    Hi,

I keep reading about Windows 2000 Pro as the most stable O/S so far from Microsoft.

I want to switch from Vista Business to Win. 2000 Pro on my Dell Lat. D630.

Any there Dell Latitude users running Win. 2000 Pro. who care to can comment ?

Windows 2000 may be a stable OS, but if you're looking for greater stability than Vista, try at least XP first. Going back to Win2k is a drastic step, you're going to lose a lot of functionality, and be limited to older applications/games. XP can be just as stable as Windows 2000 easily. Never mind if you are even able to find drivers for all of your hardware (doubt it).

I agree with the others. I was a die-hard 2000 Pro user for years. Then I hesitatingly made the switch to XP Pro. Never looked backed. And XP was/is much better at handling games than 2000.

I've since turned to Vista and although it can be iffy when it comes to older software, the o/s itself is pretty rock solid.

So consider XP or Vista. Or, as vinumsy suggests, wait it out for Windows 7, aka 'Vienna'.
