I have a Studio 15 (1535) and did a clean install with Windows 7 (32 bit) and now I'm in the process of reinstalling my programs. I used Windows 7 Easy Transfer so I can keep track on what needs to be installed and boy this program is slick. I didn't install all the Dell software that came with the computer but selected what I wanted.
Anyway my Studio 15 has a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series and in the Device Manager it shows the driver 8.632.1.2000 (8/17/2009) installed but I don't have a Catalyst Control Center, shouldn't I?

CCC isn;t necessary, it helps if you want to do some tweaking of your settings though.

I guess I should have said how can I get the Catalyst Control Center, I went to ATI site but wasn't sure what to download but I tried installing the Suite here http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=win7/windows-7-32bit
When I run installer it just shows installing the items below but no CCC
1. ATI Catalyst Install Manager
2. Microsoft Visual C++200...
3. Catalyst Registration
In fact it says everything installed fine but no CCC and it didn't update the driver to 9.10. Any ideas? -
You need to mod the download from ATI. Use Mobility Modder: http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
Basically, the drivers you download from ATI are for desktop chips. Since laptop chips are desktop ones with lower clocks, it is possible and often recommended that one uses these newer drivers from ATI. These drivers you get directly from ATI, however, do not recognize laptop chips (even though they are perfectly compatible with mobile parts.) Using programs like Mobility Modder enables the downloaded drivers to recognize the mobile GPU and lets you install the downloaded drivers from ATI onto your laptop. -
Thanks KingRaptor using Mobility Modder let me install the CCC and the latest driver!
