I have a Dell W7 upgrade disk, 64 bit, Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Home Premium.
I never used it and have the product key. I gave the laptop that it was intended for to a relative who is happy with Vista.
My question is can I use it to upgrade any other computer?
Can I use the Dell disk or a retail 64 bit W7 disk and use the Dell key?
I actually want to use it on my college daughter's Toshiba laptop that has
Vista on it and want to be sure it will activate and be genuine.
Thank's for any advice or direction.

The technical answer is yes, but I'm not so sure about the legality of it. It will activate as genuine though.

Yeah, like Robin24k said, you can, but whether it meets the EULA is a different question...

The EULA is the major issue, but I thought the Dell Win 7 upgrade discs were bios locked to Dell/Alienware systems too, just like the regular Dell branded Windows discs?

I have a few of the Win 7 upgrade discs, but unfortunately I can't test to verify the bios lock because all of my working computers are either Dell or Alienware.

It's locked to Dell BIOS for automatic activation. If it doesn't match the BIOS, it will prompt for key.
