Just figured I'd post this as a heads up to those who plan on upgrading to Windows 8 RTM either now or at General Availability. Before you install Windows 8 you'll want to check the following parts of Dell.com:

    Dell Windows 8 Overview Portal

    Windows 8 Upgrade Checklist

    Windows 8 General Upgrade Issues

Dell/Alienware Software Compatibility Issues - Key points here include a recommended migration to Dell Backup and Recovery for both Dell users running Dell DataSafe AND Alienware users using AlienRespawn BEFORE running the 8 installer. This is worth a read for other software you may use as well.

Windows 8 Upgrade Issues For Specific Machines - This is a MUST read as there are steps for many systems you must follow BEFORE running Windows 8's installer to ensure a smooth update. In some cases...systems won't boot without these issues being addressed.

In many cases, driver updates to address many specific machine issues will be available before October 26, 2012

Windows 8 Upgrade Issues for Alienware

Windows 8 Upgrade Issues for Inspiron Laptops

Windows 8 Upgrade Issues for Vostro

Windows 8 Upgrade Issues for XPS

Windows 8 Upgrade Issues for Latitude

Windows 8 Upgrade Issues for Precision

I haven't seen any info regarding Adamo...but chances are the original laptop at least will work fine with 8, especially if it's running Windows 7.

They haven't put up much information about Touch functionality and Windows 8 beyond the fact that people with systems that have N-Trig digitizers will need to grab Windows 8 drivers directly from N-Trig.

Whether they'll follow through with trackpad updates for multitouch capable machines remains to be seen.

^ you can most likely get the drivers from the touchpad vendor. Since there is really no need to run a touch GUI on a non touch device, I'll be sticking to Windows 7 on my Vostro 3450
