    Windows Installation is not working

    Hi,
    Details of my Laptop:
    Dell Inspiron 1545 (1 year old), i dont have any original software provided by DELL..

    I have tried to install windows xp...i have deleted C drived and tried to install OS in this drive...my windows cd has some problem so it has given error in some dll file...i rebooted my system..to install from different CD ..now it is not going to installation process at all...where drives comes(blue screen).....at the startup itself i am getting error in some dll file.....can any one help me why it is happening like this...at least it should go to format(reinstallation) process...thanks in advance.....

    Right...if you shutdown during the install process, XP will not boot at all. Try booting from a different disc and reinstalling XP.

    Take a good look at the CD you are using. Flip it over and really look at it. Do you see fingerprints or other obstructions that could be stopping the laser in the CD/DVD drive from reading certain parts of the CD? If so, gently wipe off the fingerprints or dust. Place the CD back into the drive and reboot. When prompted to Boot from CD... Hit any key to begin the install over again. That could be what is happening to you. Fingerprints and so forth prevent the laser from reading parts of the CD and will stop the installation when it cannot copy a file or read a portion of the CD. Try it, let us know!

    Ooops! One other thing! If that CD you have is in really sad shape ie: Scratched up and so forth, you can copy the CD using a different PC. Use Nero to create a new non-scratched CD and install using that. That should alleviate the missing .DLL file errors you are seeing and allow the entire installation process to continue. You will need a CD key, it should be on the underside of your laptop.
