Is anyone else running Windows Server 2003 on their E1705 by chance? I blew away MCE and put WS2K3 on a few weeks ago and this works just great, except for a couple minor issues:

    1) S3 Standby doesn't work anymore

Attempting to put the laptop in S3 standby results in a NMI parity error. Suspend works just fine.

    2) Bluetooth drivers?

I don't have any bluetooth devices, but after reinstalling all the drivers for the new 2K3 install, I realized that there are no bluetooth drivers listed anywhere in the E1705 driver download section of the dell site. Where are these?

Windows Server 2003 is a "server" OS so I don't think you will be able to get hibernate or standby to work properly, because again the OS was not intended for that function. That doesn't mean that it won't work, you'll probably need some third party software if there is one. As for the Bluetooth drivers trying loading the Windows XP drivers they may be compatible with 2k3. Hope this helps.

Hey Dylan. Standby should work fine on W2K3. I have Windows 2000 server on same E1705 and it has no problem w/standby or hibernate. I suspect it's on of the XP drivers (video probably) that I used that's the culprit here...

Where are the XP bluetooth drivers? included in XP itself? There's no downloadable bluetooth drivers for XP I can find on Dell site. There was something installed w/the original MCE that shipped w/the laptop -- I recall clicking on some bluetooth applet in the system tray and it did the rest. That's the thing I'm looking for (I think).

Whoops, can't believe I missed that in the network section. Thanks.

No problem in device manager, but I currently have bluetooth and wireless turned off in BIOS b/c I don't have any need for them right now. But I still want the drivers locally for whenever I do enable them.

The only trouble I had w/driver installation was for the SD micro reader. There is no driver for it included in W2K3, and Dell doesn't have it either since it's actually a standard XP driver included w/the OS. So I had to extract and install it from an existing XP installation.

OK, I tracked the S3 standby problem down to the ATI video drivers. Any version after 6.5 causes the problem...
