Just randomly looking at windows update to see if there was anything new for my Dell Vostro 1500, and found a minor Broadcom Bluetooth driver update.

Well guess what:

Completely fixed. Clear audio (not perfect, but easily ten times better) in A2DP - No crackling, no muffled sounds - I swear this is a lifesaver if you use a2dp.

this applies for Inspiron notebooks too??

As long as you are using the Dell 350 module, then yes, it does.
-
350 or 355, I don't know about the 360.

I have the 360 and there was an update recently although I have no clue what it fixed. I do use A2DP but not a lot. It sounds fine to me.

JB,
I have a Dell XPS 1330 with the 355 bluetooth module. Running XPSP2, I have succeeded in loading the Vista bluetooth stack. Now I am trying to get A2DP performance from it.
Just took delivery of a Sony DR-BT50 stereo headset that wants A2DP to listen to music. Dell TS says the 355 module does not support A2DP. But it is my understanding that A2DP support is more related to the stack than the Broadcom chip. It seems to me that if you can get A2DP out of the module in Vista (I assume you are running Vista), I should be able to do the same in XP with the right software.
I have tried loading the latest Widcom software, but it does not recognize the chip and will not load. I am pretty much stumped. Have any ideas? -
For those interested in getting A2DP service out of the Dell wireless 355 blutooth module:
Try the v. 5.1.0.4500 stack for the ASUS WL-BTD201M Bluetooth dongle. It apparently uses the same Broadcom chip as the 355. The stack is fat but has been written for most platforms.
