    How exactly is it partioned when it first arrives. Mine should be here within the next few hours. I know there's the main partition, but I heard there's a seperate 40mb dell parition, and also like a 4gb partition with a restore image (which is unneccesary since i have the windows restore disc... and a DVD burner)

    If you have the restore CD's, then there should not be a restore image on there. But i think this only applys if you buy the restore cds with your laptop(like what i did)

    same here, so I can have my friend take the cd, remove any bloatware on it and make a new restore cd with just XP MCE

    From what i read on another forum, dell sends like 4 cds(1 OS DVD,and like 3 other cds(drivers,apps,). SO i think all you need is just the OS disc to install XP MCE

    I bought the restore CD with my laptop, but the restore partition was still there.
