I listed my HP tx1120us 12.1" notebook on e-bay because I absolutely hate Vista. There are not enough XP drivers available for this laptop.
Enough about my laptop. I went to DELL support web site to see if XP drivers are available for M1330 and it looks like everything is there except fingerprint reader. Even web cam and SATA drivers are there. Has anyone tried "upgrading" successfully to Windows XP with their M1330? If so, please give step by step procedure.
I already searched for old posts about my question but they were not informative.
I would buy M1330 if I can "upgrade" to Windows XP. Yes, I call it an upgrade because it's so much better than Vista.![]()
See http://support.dell.com/support/dow...&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_M1330&os=WW1&osl=EN for Windows XP drivers for M1330.
Thanks,
Peter

Unless the fingerprint reader is unique to M1330, you can just do a search under the "Drivers" page, if there are other Dell (like Latitude) has XP drivers, you can use the same drivers.

How well does XP pro work on the 1330 ?
-
To those who currently own M1330, please go to the Device Manager and look for Manufacturer's Name and Driver Version number for Finger Printer Reader and post your findings. Please document as much as you can.
Are there any other Windows XP drivers missing from Dell's driver download web site for M1330?
cliegal, Thanks for providing info about Upek.
My goal is to make sure Windows XP really works with every hardware inside M1330 before I spend between $1800 and $2000.
Damn Vista.
Thanks. -
I'll be following this thread closely. Cheers for the work.

Well... it doesn't seem like anyone has made the XP jump just yet.
If this thread doesn't get any action between now and Saturday, I'll be the test subject.

Glad to know I'm not the only person with the Search function available to them

Considering THIS thread was created before the other.......
My apologies. I thought this would have been the one updated.
I'm off to do some reading in the other one. -
Quit rolling ur eyes, it's not the actual time of posting that counts, but the amount of work the OP put in. Considering they are only a couple of hours apart, the other has the priority since the OP there had done all the work for us
