Howdy all.
I got in on the 160 GB drive deal through Dell, and I said to myself "self, this would be a really easy way to try out Vista, and also be able to run Windows XP on it." Not a permanent solution, but fun to try. (on top of that, XPS systems usually come with the re-install disk, right?)
So I hopped over to the Dell site, and low and behold, there are XPS drivers released 7/20/2007. The 3945, 8400 GS drivers are missing (i am sure these can be found on the mfg websites), but the rest are there. Alps pointer, webcam, chipset, and SATA.
Anyone else gettng the itch to throw XP on this system? I would love to tell you all about it soon myself, but I need to get back from deployment first.
Have a good one.

Good info, here is another thread with a similar topic.

I'd also loved to consider getting Windows XP onto the XPS system, but I'm currently unsure about Vista.
If Vista is as unstable as so many people have claimed, then I'd switch over to Windows XP.
After some searching, here's the drivers for them:
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400m GS -
Congrats on getting in on the 7200 RPM drive for $106 deal

Thanks Kurgan.
Also, if you guys have trouble installing XP, http://www.nliteos.com/ has a tool to assist those of us with older XP disks (in relation to SATA drivers).
Hmm, I can report back in September, but by then I am sure a bunch of ppl will have already posted ther success.
Then again will the shipping dates....
I will keep you posted ;-).

P.S. I almost did not buy that drive. Seeing the retail now makes me glad I did!
