    Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone's installed XP x64 on their laptop and how is it running?

I have 32-bit version of XP on mine, after a lot of trouble, and there are some nagging issues that make me think I should try a reinstall. And I just feel silly reinstalling the same old OS when I can try out something new.

Do the drivers still need to be slipstreamed into XP x64? That was a major pain in the 32-bit one. And are there any issues with the 64-bit drivers?

I realise it's been years since 64-bit processors have hit the mainstream, but it still seems to me like the software hasn't cought up.

I'm also considering upping the RAM to 4GB, with the prices dropping so much it's not a big deal anymore. Just looking for advice before I dig myself into a hole :)

Does the sound work properly? That's what gave me the most problems with the XP (32-bit) install. And the microphone is ridiculously loud, I have to set it down to almost 0% in order not to blow people's ears off! And there's a constant backround noise, like a power generator running. Not sure if that's hardware or software related.

I'm guessing the SATA drivers are just standard Intel ones, but if they're not publicly available on intel's web site I'd really appreciate a link :)
