Since the clean install and reinstallation of Cyberlink PowerDVD and Sonic RecordNow, which included Sonic DLA, I've lost Window's ablility to drag and drop to copy to CD.

This method worked before I put these pieces of software back on, but it also worked when the laptop arrived with these already preinstalled at the factory.

I've tried uninstalling Sonic DLA, but that didn't make any difference.

    Any ideas?

I think your supposed to install dla to enable drag and drop functionality; not uninstall it. Try installing the DLA thing from dell's software and drivers site.

The home desktop has the function without any of this software, as does my desktop at work. It's a feature of XP powered by Roxio.

I installed the version from Dell's web site, as it was newer (v5.6) than the one on their Sonic RecordNow CD (v5.5), but not as new as what was preinstalled (v5.7). Either way it didn't make any difference.

When you insert a CD none of the options are there when you open an Explorer like 'Write these files to CD' and 'Erase disc.'

DLA works fine, it's Windows' in-built CD burning options that are no longer there.

I noticed something on the work PC today: Open up a file/folder Explorer, right click your CD/DVD drive, click Properties and then the Recording tab. I don't recall seeing this tab when I've been looking around mine.

Is there any chance one of you 6400/E1505 owners with Sonic and Cyberlink installed can have a look now and see if this tab is there along with a DLA tab?

This tab is there and upon installing Sonic it disabled the feature by default, so just check the box again in the Recording tab to use it.
