    Hey guys

I have just put in a Dell own 2gb ram stick, so in total I have 3gb up from 2gb.

Now my experiance score was 5.3 but not it went down to 5.0, whats up with that?

Anyone got any ideas why this would happen?

    VIsta 32bit
    XPSM1530
    8600GT DDR3 256
Was 2gb ram now 3gb ram.

    Thanks

Honestly? WEI is a useless benchmark, and you just saw that for yourself.

    Don't worry about it.

Greg said it. But your RAM bandwidth would drop a little (3GB vs 2GB) so maybe that is what it keyed in on. But that would be stupid because 3GB is better than 2GB in the real world. But hey it is Vista.

if you dont have identical RAM nodules it cannot offer the DDR RAM capability. i,e dual data rate. so this bottleneck makes your 3gb slower than 2 gb. if the RAM speeds are different on two modules. check that. and also use some other benchmark such as sisoft sandra or 3dmark

    Hey

Thanks guys I thought it was stupid, My vista starts up and shuts down so fast now.

Also my memory has been bought from dell direct so it should match my system as I said on the internet xpsm1530 ram and dell told me to buy this one, its all the same 667mhz pc5300 ect ect and both made by the same company.

^^ in that case dont believe the WEI. however dont believe the dell guys also. use some info program like everest or hwinfo32 and make sure u have got both ddr2 667 RAM modules. and dont tell that the RAM is from dell they dont make ram modules or RAM chips. infact most rams have two manufacturers, the one who makes the chip and the one who makes the module. (in my case the former is hynix and latter is hyundai). quote them the next time u post

WEI is a marketing benchmark. Nothing else. Leave it alone and try something more reputable...

    Hey Rhodan or anyone.

What is a good program to test the exact performance of my xps, I have almost the top xps 1530 but only have a score of 5.0 lower than my desktop which only has 2gb ram and a 4400 athlon.

I currently have a T8300 Penryn in my xps, so that should blow my desktop out of the water.

hmm according to HWinfo32, I have 3gb of PC5300 RAM running at 333.3MHZ. Shouldn't it be faster?

    fast1 (făst) pronunciation
    adj., fast·er, fast·est.

    1. Acting, moving, or capable of acting or moving quickly; swift.

no. 667 Mhz is the effective speed of DDR RAM. the true speed of a single module is only half of that i.e 333 MHz........ so theres nothing wrong with your computer

    So much for SP1.

M/S Vista sucks again, it cant even recognise more power and put a score to it.

Your WEI score of 5.0, is that your overall score or just the Memory score. I've done exactly the same as you and added a 2GB Dell stick to take my RAM up to 3GB and not only has my WEI not changed - memory still at 4.8, but I have noticed a degradation in performance, for example programmes are taking longer to start up.
