For some reason today, my wired internet isn't working. Wireless works, thank god. I'm using an Inspiron 1520, with Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller, and using Vista. It's not my wire as I tried it on my desktop and it worked perfectly. Any ideas?

Any link lights from the cable plug to the NIC port? Did you disable the NIC from BIOS? Quickset has some feature that will disable onboard NIC when it thinks that it is using battery. You might want to toggle that feature to see if you can just turn it on.

I got this problem when I got my 1530.
Anyways, your network discovery is not on. I think you can turn it on by going to network and sharing center. Turn Network Discovery ON.

NIC is network interface controller (your ethernet port -> the port you use to use wired internet).

To enter the bios, you hit F2 on boot (during the dell splash screen)

    Ouch, that sucks.

That happened to me when I started using my laptop online. I had to renew my IP whenever I plugged in a new computer. Most of the time, I just unplugged the cable modem and plugged it back in.
