My sisters old Inspiron 1100 laptop has recently had some odd problems lately...since it doesnt not have integrated wireless..we have used a wireless n and before a G adapter...as of today..usually when she plugs it in the green led lights come on showing it is working(well even if it doesnt work in a way but it is on) Now when she plugs it in the lights dont turn on or anything...i have tested both adapters and neither work...i am guessing it is a problem because the motherboard supplies the power for the adapter...am i not correct? It is also out of warranty so thats out of question =l

    look into another computer.

Might be a dead USB port.
