    I have the 1420..

    The little slider button on front of laptop where you slide
    you can slide it all the way to the right, a little
    screen displays wireless detection and strengthness
    has stopped appearing. Any ideas what i can do to get the screen display back. Thanks.

    run dell quickset from start menu (just type quickset in the search box)
    install dell quickset from dell driver cd if u uninstalled it

    when quick set is running u can see a small icon on taskbar
    now try the switch
