Hello from the UK! This is my first post.

I ordered an Inspiron 6400 last night and it was a good deal for over here, I have to say though that looking at some of the specs and prices you US folk pay my deal doesn't seem so good, but after researching it the laptop will suit my needs and was competitively priced for the spec and our market.

One thing I overlooked was the ExpressCard slot. I've got a Linksys WRT54GS router and was planning on getting the accompanying Speedbooster card to make the most of it, but the ExpressCard slot ruins that party! I hope Linksys produce an ExpressCard Speedbooster network card.

So could you try the Speakeasy speed test from the notebook?

    Thanks

Just ran the speed test on my e1505 w/intelpro 3945 and got 5.26Mbps, I pay for a max of 7Mbps, so it's a little low but since it's a cable connection that usually happens during business hours. I'm using a linksys WRT54GS with WPA and wireless G only.

That's what it supposed to be. Good, I see if I have time tonight and I'll talk to Dell.

Ok I tested it using the link you gave me and it came up at 5.6Mbps. Which matches the results I get from DSLreports website. Well close enough 5.4Mbps.

Uouu that's an incredible speed you have. I have the same in my other pc's but I can't get that in my E1505.
    Thank you for trying it.
It took me a long chat with Dell support but I'm getting my E1505 replaced. Thanks a lot to everyone that helped me. I'll keep you guys updated when I test the other machine.

    thanks again

    Laszlo

Hi laslomdq, did the replacement fix your problem? I have the same problem as you, throughput capped at two megabits only. I have a E1705 though, if it fix the problem for you, I guess I have to call for replacement too.

After a week of diagnostic, I finally found out that it's actually my router that is holding download speed down. I find out if i have WMM support enable, my download speed will be capp at max 3 mbps. So if I turn it off on my router, it ran just fine. I hope this help for those who suffered the same problem as me. It might be just misconfiguration with the router WMM setting but I can live without it. Disable is my easy way out.
