Is this a good upgrade, or a waste?

I upgrade my D630 for wireless N, but it only costs me $8. I heard wireless N service will not appear in public places like schools and T-Mobile hot spots for another 2-3 years.

Has anyone setup their own house with wireless N? Did it work better than a/g? I find that if I go to a different floor in my house from where the router is setup, the signal sometimes drops quite a bit (g). Wondering if 'N' would resolve this..

If its worth it to you to "future-proof" your rig, than do it, if you can wait and are comfortable with installing it yourself later, then do that. Either way, you're gonna want it eventually.

N is supposed to have a better range and faster speeds than G, so i guess the better range part is what you're looking for.
Currently the routers are fairly pricey, so i'd wait till the 802.11n Final comes out to purchase a router that'll last (even though they guaranteed Draft 2.0 is compatible) -
i'm just about to place an order for the Dell XPS m1330 however, don't know which card to get? I do want it to be future proof though.
The Intel 3945 802.11a/g Mini-card or Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card?
Please advise asap which i should go for. I want a stable connection. Please note, i am still using a Linksys Wirless B at home as it's been very reliable but do want to upgrade it for wireless to be faster. -
i have /n at my office, the connection to the internet is not necessary faster but i can see a sufficient speed increase between data transfer rate.

Is their any difference in the Dell or Intel n-card?

I decided to switch over to N draft after ordering my XPS M1710 about 2 weeks ago and now have a Belkin Wireless N Draft setup.
Before when i had my Belkin G setup my speed and strength would drop below 54 mbps and the strength would drop to 1-2 ( Low) bars when i went on my upstairs (Even though the distance is not that great and i can actually even see the router)
After the setup of N draft i constantly get speeds of 270+ mbps and strength of 4-5 bars (Very good) and i get this all the time. (I have even taken this up in my loft and still get this kind of connection but that makes the strength drop a little but the speeds are still fantastic and i have even done some online gaming from there without any trouble)
Very impressed and well worth the switch. Also very easy to setup and seems very secure.
Ive kept a usb G adapter in the event i am unable to connect to wifi hot spots which cost less than £20 inc pnp from ebay
Wireless N - Yes? No?
