I didn't upgrade the Wireless N mini card for my laptop - and it is now too late to add it on to my order. However, what style is Dells mini-card. Is it an internal card or is it a pcmcia card?

And would I be able to upgrade to it if it was internal?

You should be able to upgrade to a wireless n later.

The only thing i'm worried about is that my dell 1390 only has 2 antenna thingies and the wireless N has 3, so i don't know if you'll be able to utilize the third one.

Thank god, I thought it would have been soldered on or something

as far as MIMO goes theoretically you only need 2.

Yeah, just been looking up the Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-Card that Dell pops in their laptops. I can find it for £18 delivered, standard pci mini interface - just wondering how hard it would be to get the old bugger out and the new beast in... I doubt they will make it easy - could really do with the motherboard layout of the vostro. Anyone feeling screwdriver happy? :)

    hey up timmy,

its very easy, 2 screws on the cover, and then 2 scres poss even 1 holding the card in. If you goto dells site, then support and you can pull down the service manuals for the vostro in pdf. Tells you how to rip the whole laptop apart :D

Sorry cant take the time to link you there am at work :( booo hiss!!
