Bluetooth never compares with other mice, there's always some lag, slowdowns and disconnects. That said I've had good success using the Logitech MX5500 desktop set, but only with the provided bluetooth dongle. It works with the internal bluetooth, but real well. Fortunately you can use the dongle without it conflicting with the internal Dell bluetooth.

I also have a Mogo mouse (the presenter one), they are brilliant if you travel and want a bluetooth mouse that stores inside the laptop. I would say anyone who travels should have one of these, they are surprisingly easy to use, never need batteries, no dongle, stores inside the laptop. It even doubles as a wireless presenter and has a laser pointer to entertain yourself with. My only small niggle so far is that the touch scroller scrolls down much more readily than up.

So the bluetooth mouse works just as well with dell internal bluetooth? I bought it mainly to free up an extra usb port, and read that this particular one doesn't come with any bluetooth dongle.

I use the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. It works perfectly at a distance of 15 feet (I connect to a 42in HDTV). It just has a MP3 Looking USB connector with three green lights for the locks on the top of it. Never a problem with over a year of heavy usage.

I've used a few different wireless mice over the years, but the best one I've used so far is an Apple Mighty Mouse which is Bluetooth. I haven't had any lags or dropouts while using it with my MacBook.

Personally I'd recommend a BT mouse because then you don't need another dongle taking up a USB port (assuming your laptop has BT built in).

Dell BT travel mouse works solid all day for me. I use others at home, but when I'm out, I use the Dell Bluetooth Mouse, and it performs well, never loses its connection, and the batteries last forever.

It has 5 buttons, 4-way scrolling, and is optical. Not too shabby at all.

Oh, and it's really a logitech mouse, so you can use Logitech's SetPoint driver software, if you want, and it will recognize the mouse and give youa few more options.

I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer Bluetooth. No lag (other than maybe a half a second the first time its used after idle for a while), and works very well with my onboard Dell Bluetooth.

Highly recommended, especially compared with the USB dongle alternatives (USB dongles get lost/stolen/broken/etc...).

Are any of these not optical? I hate optical honestly, as I'm usually mousing on a couch or my lap and it don't work.

I've found I can only mouse on my lap or couch WITH an optical... and I haven't researched or anything, but it's highly unlikely they won't be optical.
Optical is much more efficient with little to no cleaning, precision, etc.
