I recently purchased a 600m with the 802.11b miniPC card, and now thinking that I should've gone with at least the 802.11g. If I decide to upgrade, would I have to remove the miniPC card and just purchase a PC Card(the ones offered as an upgrade)? Or would I have to replace it with another miniPC card 802.11g compatible?

    Thanks,

    Tom

You have 2 options...keep the the current mPCI card, and add a wireless card via PCMCIA slot (slot found on the sides of laptops) You do not need to remove the miniPCI card, you would just disable it.

or purchase a new minipci card which can replace your current one.

My recommendation is to get a new minipci card...they are about $50 bucks which is reasonable. That way you can save or PCMCIA slot for something else.

Thanks for the quick reply, but would you happen to know if I can purchase them separately from Dell or any other manufacturers?

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Tom,

Or can call Dell Spare Parts (i don't know the # off hand but you can find it at their webstie) and they can find you the right one. Sometimes it's better to call them because from time to time you can haggle down the price a few dollars and get free shipping.
