I have been having problems with my inspiron 1720 freezing and crashing so decided to reformat the hard drive and start a fresh install of windows vista.
It is all working fine now, however there seems to be a problem with the network controller as when I try to discover a network I get the message
'This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured'
Under device manager it states I have a 'Broadcom 440x10/100 integrated controller and that the device is working properly, however network controller it is telling me that the drivers for this device are not installed.
(Also the same for 3 base system devices - whatever these are (?) and video controller.
Does anyone know where I might find the drivers for these. I have looked and cannot find any more details on these controllers so am unable to search the web for them.
I have tried loading them from the DELL drivers and utilities CD but it tells me that they aren't on there.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

First of all, the Broadcom 440x10/100 integrated controller is driver for the Ethernet adapter, not a wireless network adapter.
To find out which wireless network card is installed in your machine go to this page at dell support and input your service tag:
    http://support.dell.com/support/top...tails?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~tab=2&~ck=anavml
Than find out and install the correct driver at dell support website - support.dell.com
