I'm looking to get a new 9 cell battery for my E1505 since my current 6 cell battery has almost completely lost its charge. Do I need to get the 90whr A/C adaptor as well, or will the standard 60whr still be able to power and charge my laptop?

I agree. There's no need for a bigger PSU (and even if you got one there's no guarantee that the battery would charge faster - the charging circuit is probably designed for a maximum of 30-40W).
