I recently bought World of Warcraft to play on my XPS M1330. However, I'm still in the waiting process for UPS to return my old Inspiron 1420 back to Dell, and for Dell to credit me back my money so I can purchase the M1330.
Anyways, I realize that the M1330 will easily be able to play WoW; I'd just like to know how well it will be able to play it with these specs (i.e. ultra high, high, medium, etc.):
160 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
3 GB Memory
Slot Load CD/DVD Drive
128 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
LED Backlit Display
Also, should I expect a brighter and more "vibrant" screen with the LED versus the normal CCFL?
-
id say medium atleast
-
=P your max resolution easily maxed out. (20-40fps) It will play on medium-high settings on Intel X3100 or ATI radeon 1270 for that matter.
-
So you're saying I'll be able to play it on the highest setting?
-
you can play wow at max on a george foreman grill
-
Yes. I have ATI X300, and I am maxing out at 1024 X 768 resolution and getting 20-45 fps. I even played WoW with one I have below my sig (except with 512 back then) on low settings 15-22 fps

I was debating whether or not to buy a 1530 or 1330. The laptop will primarily be used for college work and WoW. (wife will get my "old" 1520)
A coworker bought a refurbished 1330 and recieved it Monday. I got to play with it today this morning to judge before ordering. Since we both play WoW I had to try it out. His specs are T7500 processor, 4GB RAM, the 128MB nVidia, LED display, and the 5400RPM hard drive. The LED display is beautiful but I was underwhelmed on how it played WoW. Guess I'm spoiled from the 8600GT in my 1520. It played smooth alright, but I couldn't max out everything like I can with the 8600GT 1520. I also went into the nVidia control panel and set it to performance, balanced, and then quality when testing.
It will play WoW no problems, just don't expect max settings (100% clip plane, 4x multisampling, etc.) It's an awesomely (word?) beautiful machine, but it didn't pass the WoW test for me (which is max everything and play smooth).
He offered to let me borrow the 1330 overnight, but I had already made up my mind. I ended up ordering a 1530 a few moments ago. -

its an old game with ok graphics so its pretty easy to run on a low grade gpu
-
well the 1330 is meant for portability. not gaming, if you want wow on max settings go for the 1530 if you don't mind lowered settings then it will work fine on the 1330.
-
I would say a mix of medium and high at native resolution. It should look fairly nice and comparable to a desktop.
I will let you know when I get mine.
-
I'd think it would be up there close to maxed-out settings. For one thing, the required video RAM is 32mb. The recommended is 64mb. And the video card on my M1330 is gonna be 128mb. So...
-
yeah for wow the laptop will be prefectly fine
-
i had to switch to the george foreman grill...
i used to play with it with my toaster, but the screen was grainy....HAHAHA
yeah. -
I play wow on my m1330, 8400gs, 2gb RAM and T7300 and i have all the settings maxed out (except i have it on 2x multisampling), AND i play it on windowed mode and i get 20-ish fps, i get 30-60 when i have it on fullscreen.
So you should be fine -
Sweet. Then I'll be looking forward to playing it once I get my M1330.

Don't feel to bad Darock Downer. I haven't played it at all!
-
Well, I know that this has already been answered, but my M1530 plays F.E.A.R. at maxed settings at 1280x800, excluding FSAA and the texture filtering. I think that texture filtering is 4x anistropic and I can't remember what FSAA is at. It looks fantastic.

You'll easily get max settings at 50fps on the m1330.
My 1420 plays max at 1440x900 no problems.... -
WoW meets (my) XPS M1330
