So after 2 order cancellations, I placed a 3rd order on July 6th for my 1520 with the 1440 X 900 screen. Estimated ship date was August 6th. Just checked my oder status and it looks to have shipped on July 14th via FedEx. The tracking number says standard overnight shipping but delivery is scheduled for July 18th...... Needless to say I am PUMPED!

And did I mention - I got everything for $1380 shipped and after Tax!!!!!!!!

I don't want to be a downer, but is that 1GB of RAM a typo? Because I think really think you need 2GB for Vista?

It's not the end of the world but you might have to upgrade that yourself at a later time.

vcash, I would suggest buying a 2 GB ram stick, and just putting it in the back of your laptop. You don't have to remove the keyboard or anything. This is what I did, and it literally took 2 minutes to unscrew the 1 screw, take off the back plastic plate thingy, take out the old ram, and put the new ram in, then screw the screw back in.

Look at the Hot Ram Deals thread for great prices on DDR2-667 ram. To upgrade to 4gb(2gb is plenty) you need a 64bit OS.

Hey Guys - Yup - the plan from the getgo was to upgrade from Newegg. I actually just posted a question in the Hot Ram deals thread.

@Larson - I considered doing 1 stick of 2GB in the back so I'd have a total of 2.5 GBs. But from what I have read and been advised its better to do 2 gigs dual channel (2 X 1GB). Can I ask you what brand / model you chose for the 1 X 2GB stick and if it snapped in perfectly, and how is the performance with the 2.5gigs?

P.S. I plan on ordering this if you guys approve:

Thanks Guys! I am quite impressed with Dell - it shipped 22 days before the estimated date! I am sure all of yours will ship soon enough if it has not already. Cheers!

just for the record...i have 1GB of RAM in my desktop and I dual boot XP and Vista. Vista runs perfectly fine with 1GB of RAM...though I recently upgraded to 2GB for the fun of it. So no worries to people who got Vista with 1GB. As for my 1520...hehe..once I get it, it's going right to 4 GB.
