    Hi all,

I would like to work with my M1330 with closed lid, and an external display. I would use it like this for 8 hours a day.

    Should I worry about anything?

I don't think so. Just make sure that the screen is off and that you don't have it set to go to standby. I would suggest a notebook cooler to keep temperatures down, but will do great either way.

It's no more dangerous than using it with the lid open for 8 hours. In fact, because of the way the LCD opens on the M1330, this will allow for better airflow out of the vents on the back.

Since you're going to be docking it anyway to a Monitor and external keyboard, might I suggest you get a notebook cooling pad to place it on? I only suggest this because the M1330 is notorious for having an overheating GPU, and 8 hours is a pretty long run time.

No you're laptop is fine. Just don't leave it on a bed for a long time though.

Thanks for the tips, I'm not so worried now :).
I'm not going to use the GPU really (no games, maybe some HD movies), so I hope that GPU overheating won't be a problem.

I'd still consider the pad. They can be had for only about 50 bucks, I am sure someone can link you to a nice one, probably for cheaper. It's a nice way to protect your investment, the CPU, GPU, and chipset all share one cooling assembly in the M1330, so it will help keep all temps down and reduce how much your internal fan will need to run.

I'll consider it, but I'm going to do some tests with open and closed lid. Maybe some further tests with a cooling pad as well. If the difference is significant I'll keep the pad.

However it's good to know I shouldn't have problems with closed lid, so again, thanks all :)

Leave the lid half closed... Fully closing it covers the largest area available for heat dissipation, and I have noticed that the temperatures are higher..

Leaving it half closed ensures that the rear vents are fully open, and the keyboard/palmrests aren't heating up..
