Ok, so I bought a Dell XPS1530 in 2008, 4 years warrenty under small business. The last 2 years have been a utter nightmare.... The palm rest would constantly get worn down and have to be replaced, motherboard replaced 4 times.. and kudos to dell for sending someone out next day. But the techs were awful, never putting my XPS back together correctly, and this time... they stripped the heat sink screws when replacing the motherboard.

So I had only 1 option, send the laptop off to a depo center and have them fix it and be without a pc for 7-10 days... not an option so I called Dell and was polite but firm and asked what other options were aviable... they told me a system exchange.

So that was yesterday and Im dying to know what system they will send me. Told them I didnt want another XPS M1530 because of the issues, but wanted something with a damn good video card. Any idea on what they may send me? I'm worried because this is my gaming laptop... lol bought thru my business.

What can I expect in exchange? I've called and no one has an answer for me. They just keep telling me they won't know till 2 weeks from now... so does anyone have any input? What can I expect really?

Wouldn't it be a Studio XPS 16XX series? I'd guess so, if not another XPS M1530.

Thank you Jeremy, not knowing is the worst! I sent him a very polite email asking for any info. I long was your turn around time for a response?

I did state I did not want another XPS 1530, I had alot of issues with heat from the GPU, games freezing, lines in the screen, it's me chaotic!

If anyone else had a XPS system replaced in the last month... let me know what you got! Thank you for your time!

I had my XPS 1530 replaced with a XPS 1640/(now 47) after several GPU fails..that was in February/10.

See this thread, you will find several 1530 owners in there that have had their 1530's replaced, and that are "in progress" stage. :)

Hold steady ~ with some good patience, and I'm sure things will work out for you! ;)

Eh, hope not, told them I didnt want another failed system. ;)

I guess I need to call Dell and Speak with them and really find out what they are sending me...

Any ideas what to say when calling them? Everytime I call to find out what they are sending me... I get the "better or equavilent system"

wrong ramzes! Told them specifically I want a studio 16, as a business laptop, the 1530 had to much downtime. SO they told me right off the bat, I will be getting a Studio 16, not sure on the specs yet... looks like I will be joining the studio 16 club!

Good for you, just wait for the spec now. I was promised that a "manager" would call me before the replacement is sent, but never happened, not even an email.
