Just wondering, I received a 1537 for xmas which came with a 1200 by 800 screen. I'm please to say that the computer works perfectly so far. I'm wondering if trying to return it for a 1537 with the 1920 x 1200 resolution(only other option) would be worth it? I'll usually watch a couple of dvd's(no blueray) or divx files a week, is the picture that much better? I'd imagine that fine a res would be hard to read but you could set it at 1400 by 900. Any advice? Arghh, posted it in the wrong forum :(

First off Dell has a 21 day return policy from the day it was shipped. So I don't know if the person who bought you your laptop can return it within the return policy. Secondly if you want a higher res screen they will have to place new another order. Typically that's how Dell operates.

I have several 15.4" laptops. I own a couple with 1280x800 and 1680x1050. The sweet spot for 15.4" laptops is 1400x900 res. Anything above that and you really need to have good eyes as everything on the screen looks too small.

I play videos and such on the laptops with 1280x800 and all looks good. The next step up is 1400x900 which shrinks things a bit while not looking too small. If it were me I would keep what you got if you're happy with it, which sounds like you are. ;)

Dell's 21 day return policy starts the day you are *completely* invoiced for your notebook (usually the day it's shipped).

So, you need to make some fast steady decisions..as to what you want to do. After 21 days...and you want to exchange, you will get a *refurb*. Within 21 days...an exchange for a new one, or your money back.

And, I would suggest the 1440x900 screen resolution. I have it, and it's great for watching movies and such! Get the LED if you can! But, if you like what you have ~ why make any changes? This is something you want to think over, very well.

Let us know how things are progressing for you!
