Dell has increase the price for m1330 for few days already. I went online again today because I was curious how much it would cost me now compare to the one I've already ordered. The final cost ended up costing $753 more.
Who would still buy m1330 at this new price? Anybody?

Absolutely NOT!!!!!!! An HP tx1000z series 12.1" laptop costs less than $1000 from Best Buy and it does enough for most people. Dell's price is just plain crazy!!!!!!!! About a month ago, my original configuration cost about $1800 and now it's almost $2400!!!!!!! There must be an incredibly high demand for this laptop.

Speaking of higher prices, my laptop has jumped 100 bucks in price comparatively.

    Thankfully bought it early :D

If the m1330 is configured to be $2000+, I'd recommend looking at the Sony SZ6 instead, which is superior to the m1330 in almost every category, but the price tag :p

    Likewise, hahaha.
Yes... Sony always manages to squeeze a huge high-end price tag on their machines :D.

    Well, it's understandable.

For $2100~ you get a 13.3" WXGA LED backlit LCD, 2.2ghz C2D(S.R.), 2gb RAM, 160gb HD, EVDO WAN, 8400GS/x3100 GPU, Carbon Fibre body, Magnesium Lid, Brushed aluminum wristrests all at 3.8lbs. And a 5+ hour battery to boot. But the pricetag, not just anyone can afford it, thus the 'premium'. Of course, for $200~300 less, you lose the EVDO, 1gb RAM, then it becomes quite a competitor.

Definitely not. At first I wasn't even planning on buying the m1330 at all, I was looking at the 1420. But after configuring it and getting the price down to what I have now, there isn't any other option for me. Even if I wanted to look for something else, they would end up costing me more for what I got now.

Is this a US thing? In Canada, my systems remains the same price with my top being fully specced.

On top of that we seem to have a free LED addin without camera which has been there for awhile.

There is no price jump in Canada? Really!!
In US, LED upgrade with Webcam is $279 extra.

    For my model there was.

    Albeit, you get a T7100 instead of a T5470, but for a $150CAD jump!

I would not even purchase one at the cheaper prices. I returned my fully loaded m1330 when the one I was delivered was WARPED! Would not sit flat on a desk. What a joke. Bought a 14" lenovo t61p instead. love it! best keyboard ever.

It's still the same price in Canada. Dell has turned their back on the US.

I just ordered mine today. I've been speccing the 1330 on the uk website since it was first launched. Check my sig for full spec... online that came to £1425, but I haggled the Dell reps down to £1150. Cheaper than I've ever been able to spec it... around 12% saving. In the UK at least, you're still able to get a reasonable price.

Part of the problem about the price is you can't even get the parts I originally configured it with.

I cancelled my order some time ago but still.. jeesh.

You can't get the 7300 cpu or the Intel N card.
And that price on the LCD is rediculous.

What is the equivalent of USD on your final price (tax, shipping?)

The T7300 is being phased out- see this thread.

I re-priced my Inspiron 1720 out of curiousity- it's hundreds of dollars more than when I bought it, even factoring in a $300 coupon (which they don't appear to be offering at the moment anyways).

Just double the price to get it in dollars. In UK, prices always include tax & shipping unless otherwise listed. So that's roughly $2300 shipped. Not bad, actually.

Thanks for clear that up. You definitely can't get that specs here in US with this price.

The Canadians are lucky in regard to the free LED screen but their base specs are lower than the US model. Also, their taxes are a bit high. I dont know how they live with it.

You can still get 1299 price for the old base model but you have to get the right rep. The rep. from the Dell "Chat w/ a Dell rep." offered it to me. So you have to shop for your rep.

Be advise that the 1299 old base model has lower specs compared to the current base m1330. But when you configured the 1299 m1330 to match the new base m1330...the price is lower. That is Dell for you.

    Good luck
