    [copied from 1555 thread]

I am looking for a new laptop and at first i thought i should wait but now that i look at it... its considerably thicker and has bigger dimensions = harder to fit it in my bag. The graphics card upgrade seems the only incentive to upgrade and tbh i am not a crysis person so the current bug-free tested one will be fine thank you

Are they any grave BIG problems i should be aware about?
The eject button issue doesnt bother me that much unless vista manual doesnt work (supposing not)
Sound issue i heard can be fixed

Also, will the sound issue be solved if i purchased this upgrade?

''Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio'' for 17 pounds along with the laptop?

Cant really see why though to wait....
I dont need a bigger screen, a thicker laptop, a better GPU and can probably get rid of the sound issue with the enhancement.
I can live with the eject problem

On a sidenote: do the media keys work with itunes?

i think dell is cheap out on studio 1555, the listed price and configurations aint right. looks like dell is putting in low cost components in order to make money.

The media keys on my 1535 work with iTunes just fine.

If I were you, I would just get the 1537 instead of the 1555. The only thing the 1555 has going for it is the more powerful graphics card, but I'm pretty content with my 1535's Radeon 3450. It lets me play Unreal Tournament 2004 on maximum settings, so I don't really need anything more. :p

256MB/512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 - is very good advantage especially for new games
15.6 inch (16:9) with strange resolution really sucks for me sorr

that integrated sound blaster thing is only software i think! if its hardware i dont know... but i think the problem here is the speakers not the sound card, so even if it was hardware, i think you should wait for the 1555 if you want better audio!!! it even has a subwoofer... or... just get a HP dv5t!!!

I wouldn't bother. I have just the standard integrated audio with Vista default drivers, and it sounds great on my Logitech Z-2300's. So unless you're going to be doing serious studio work or surround sound, you might as well save your £17. Buy yourself a nice mouse or something.

It might be too much to ask for... but can someone please record a clip of any song through the speakers?
In what ways is it bad?

The speakers themselves are pretty weak, no matter what sound card you're using. They're just small, tinny, and not very powerful. Maybe that's what you should do with the £17 you'll save on the sound card...put it towards a good pair of headphones or external speakers.

1537 has a terrible flexy keyboard. Makes it feel worse than even a cheap Acer.

I've had two different keyboards in my Studio 1535 (same keyboard as 1537), a backlit and non-backlit. Neither of them really had much flex.

Lucky you. The 2 that I've come across were deal breakers. :(

Strangely, the Studio 17 has a much more solid feeling keyboard.

One of the Studio 15's even had a terrible bulge on the right side. yuck.

The keyboard bulge may well have been caused by poor cable routing underneath the keyboard. Hell, one member even found a balled-up wad of masking tape under his keyboard that caused a pretty big bulge. :p

Integrated sound cards sucks. Z-2300 has very good sound ;)
    I prefer 16:9 too !
