Is it me or is it Dell doing something with this laptop. I could go on the dell website and order an M170 for $1530.00. Is something going on should we wait or pounce on this deal. What the heck is going on  .

They're coming out w/ Duo Core models (speculation) - they're trying to clear out stock on the current M170 line. Great deals for good comps...not my cup of tea, but good for many.

Lower the Discount, take off the back back, downgrade the wireless card, HDD, Microsoft Office..etc

Thanks Nick. Here is my Dilema i already purchased a E1705 withe Dou Core T2500 2.0Ghz 1GB FSB533 60GB 7200RPM 256MB Go 7800, now this is system 1. How about if I ordered with everything the same except the CPU wich would be Pentium® M Processor 760 (2 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB) and the GPU will be the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7800 GTX, this would be system 2. Which would be the better system, for gaming i know its system 2, but is it worth it to get the 760M cpu. Wich system would you guys go for thanks for the input.

Are you going to be multi-tasking a lot? The 760 is just fine, expecially with a 7800GTX...top gpu available

Right now, MS isn't releasing any details on how Vista will operate on dual-core machines. However, you can be assured that there will be software that takes advantage of dual-core CPUs. Quake 4 for example, runs significantly faster when a patch made to take advantage of dual-core CPUs is installed.

bah dual cores are over rated at this point with the shared cache and the lack of dual core support the M170 would give you better stats all the way around and another nice thing is that you can pinmod a 735 or 745 to either 2.26 or 2.4 ghz and sell they 2.0 for more than what you paid for the 735 or 745

I've heard alot about games being patched for core-duo, but take Quake for example. It rips on my XPS. I can run it with all of the settings maxed out, smooth as silk, so I don't see how one would benefit from that.
