I have never witnessed this much graininess in my life on a screen. it's amazing.
the casing is sturdy like you've all heard. it's not as bright as I would have liked, which leads me to think how bright the other screens are since this is technically the brightest ones...
the camera is pretty good, lots of bloatware tho. everything is pretty heavy.
I don't hear any noise from it nor do I hear that hissing sound that everybody is talking about...
that's it, update soon with a review. i'll run benchmarks later to see if t7500 lives up to its highest speed reputation.

I don't see any grainyness on mine....
-
lucky, although i think most people's interpretation of graininess is different
-
mine is pretty grainy as well.
-
how much does it weigh?
-
please post this kind of stuff here
-
-
WOW HOLY CRAP! Oh wait, your using 9-cell battery. Does anyone have a weight for 6 cell?
-
i don't want to, this thread is for my own personal opinions and for people who have my settings wondering about hteir own computer.
i don't have a weight, but it's pretty heavy. the box was really heavy to carry home. although i use to have a hp pavilion 6500 which was like 9 pounds so this seems somewhat lighter. most of the weight is central closer to the battery so it might feel a bit odd. -
i'm downloading 3dmark, to my knowledge, nobody on this forum has ran it with t7500 and a 7200 rpm harddrive yet so i'll keep you updated

stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
Minimum Viewing Distance... This is standard for all TVs, LCD's, etc... Any screen will look grainy from a short distance. Your laptop probably has a miminum viewing distance of 3 feet. I don't know that for fact, but it is worth looking into and see what is noted. MVD...

What's worrying is that none of the "third party" reviews of the 1520 mentioned the grainy screen.... Seems like we basically can't rely on CNET, etc to give us a solid third party opinion any more.
-
ehhh....i don't even remember when i could rely on cnet for a third party opinion on notebooks.

ooo i got 3276 3d marks, not bad. i have no idea how to upload a picture though.
-
ty for info! -
another 40 dollar credit? how?
-
-
-
lolll are we referring to me?
its a long story...i got a call this morning saying that my (according to their records) $25 coupon (I asked for $40 because I wanted a laptop bag -- couldn't get the remote sep so figured I'd get the bag) was being processed but it was up to dell to accept or reject the other $100 coupon I was owed...naturally, I wasn't very happy. I've gone from 140/125 to just $25? I called back and was very firm about how annoyed I was with their customer serivce. The sales rep was REALLY NICE and said I could keep the $25 coupon and she'd stack $140 credit on top of it.
edit: also how come it says the benchmarks weren't run w/default settings? what'd you change? can you upload a pic of the settings? thanks! -
i didn't change anything. i'm going to reformat my computer right now, oh btw, with our build, the computer does run rather hot
-
Frozen, which display panel manufacturer do you have?
-
-
i should mention i'm pretty sure the heat is coming from the harddrive
-
the edges of the laptop is a bit unsettling because when I type on it, my wrist hits the bottom left edge of the laptop which lifts it up a little. it's not that big of a deal. Also, Dell's new "driver" downloading utencil is a very nifty, yet very slow software. for an idea this integrated, u'd imaigne dell would make it somewhat faster
-
I have 70 processes running aftering reformatting and reinstalling drivers. amazing.
Wow that is a lot of graniness, and a lot of other first impressions of my 1520
