I just ripped...er... backed up... one of my DVDs to the notebook's hard disk and played it with PowerDVD while on battery power. I set everything to max powersave and turned the screen brightness down to lowest. According to the power meter, the battery will last 5 hours. I don't know how accurate that estimate is, but I watched it for 15 minutes and the estimate when down by about 15 minutes. If I turn the brightness up to full, then the estimate is 4 hours.
That seems like pretty good battery time to mePlus, I got the 9 cell as an additional battery so I also have a 6 cell battery. Together, that should last me 8 hours, enought for a flight to europe.

When playing the movie, what cell did you used, 6 or 9?
JC -
The 9 cell.
-
Lol... I'm sure it was "backing up"
-
Pretty darn good battery. I havent tested the battery when playing on the movie on the HD, only on dvd drive, which I think it lasted 1 hr 45 mins. Say, what was your volume setting durring playing?
JC -
I havn't test my battery yet, its still in the fridge.
-
Nothing like tripping off battery acid... yummmy
LOL -
yeah, i have the 6 and 9 cel. i can get about 10 hours total if i'm careful.

Do you have the integrated graphics card option or are you using an ATI 1300 or 1400? I was wondering if having a dedicated graphics card would have an impact (significant or otherwise) on battery life.
-
I have the X1400.
-
Egad! The answer to my question was right in your sig! Sorry I was not more observant
-
Yes, the integrated graphics will get a little better battery life than the dedicated cards will.
Wow, 5 hours of DVD playing on battery (from hard disk, on my E1505)
