However, I loathe their sales department!!!

Using Dell chat support worked like a charm for me (I think I suck at negotiating on the phone)...

My problem has been Light Leakage on my e1705 laptop. I have the WXGA screen with quite a lot of leakage at the bottom. The initial screen I got also had a terrible viewing angle and a shimmer effect. Dell sent out a tech earlier this week and replaced the screen. This got rid of the shimmer and the viewing angle was slightly better, but still kinda bad. The new screen also had a bit MORE light leakage.

So I just talked to Dell chat support again and made my claim. They are not sending me an entire new laptop with the same configuation. This way I'll be able to swap in/out any parts I choose as well because they don't need me to return my current laptop until I recieve the new one, woot!

Now I just hope the screen on the laptop they are sending me is a good one. I'm hoping the laptop casing itself might even effect the quality of the display and that's why I can't seem to get a good one with my current laptop.

My first experience with Dell chat was very positive. No wait, I explained my HD was dead and the diagnostics I had done, and he agreed it was dead and shipped me a new drive. 15 minutes and I was done. No accent hassles, no listening to recordings. The only downside was I called on a Saturday so they didn't ship it until Monday.

I am impressed with their customer service and technical support, also.

I have other opinions about dealing with the agents to actually buy the system. I did a chat with someone and I was not impressed:

I typed out a paragraph saying what I do and I need to do and that I debated between the D620 and the 710 m. Instead of the A$$ reading it, he started to ask me questions from step one. When I paused for a second, he responded by something along the lines of 'did you read my last comment' in a malevolent way. He proceeded to try to sell me a printer, software, etc etc. Instead of someone with the technical expertise as what exists on this board, I had someone just trying to sell something. Overall it was a waste of 15" and I just proceeded to end the conversation and I just closed the window.
