Check your receipt if you received one. It will tell you which operating system you ordered. If it's Vista, they have to give you it... (free of charge).

You posted this in the wrong board, by the way...

Did you purchase it with Windows Vista? What do your receipt and invoice say?

If its their mistake Dell should replace it for free.

If the order says Vista then they have to give it to you for free.

If it says Windows XP, then you were only charged for XP, not Vista. (They may be the same price, though.)

I'm guessing you either accidentally chose XP or they messed up your order... either way, I don't think they technically have to give it to you if your receipt says XP... however, you could try.

I've thought of that too, But since my XP is causing alot of problems...
Hangs at "Windows is starting up" screen...
Desktop freezes in a random time. have to reboot the process "explorer.exe" in order to solve the problem
IE Screws up and refuses to load any webpage...

and this happens like..5days after i've received my laptop?

They messed up my order..but they wouldn't admit it. They wanted me to buy the upgrade kit which is like more than 100bucks.

Honestly, you have had since Aug 6th to review your order, and make sure everything is as you wanted. I feel for you, but that's what you get for not reviewing the order carefully.

    Good luck dude.

I didn't know they even offered XP on the 1501 anymore.
But XP should not be hanging and crashing like that.
You may have a hardware problem.
