Am going to probably be buying a Dell X1 soon. I am not too familiar with how to ensure 3rd party RAM compatibility on notebooks. It has 1 DDR2 SODIMM socket. I want to put 1 gig into it. Dell's price for 1 gig is $429. I see on Newegg at

    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=0

some far cheaper options, like $165 for a Transcend. The only difference between the Transcend and more expensive (but still far cheaper than Dell) is the "Organization" and clock speed. I notice Kensington's website, if you pick Dell X1 recommend some dell'ish sounding part number "KTDINSP6000" which most sites list as "Dell Inspiron 6000 memory", which leads me to believe there's nothing special about X1 memory. But that dell sounding Kensington part number is still more, $300 about the cheapest im seeing.

Any ideas if the $165 Transcend or $219 Kensington on Newegg would work? What are the decisive factors without having to order it and just try?
