Hey all, I had ordered 2 laptops, one that is mine with the nice tweaks and upgrades, the 2nd one still about the same but couple less options.

I have the X1400 which I hear is decent for gaming in itself and performs better then people expected.

The 2nd one, she doesnt do much, She has a ATI M 16 MB now.. which runs FFXI on lowest (PS2 quality) settings, Runs Sims 2 at minimum and she is happy. X1300 I figure would be a big step up for her.

She isnt a hardcore gamer like I am or 3d intensive. She mainly plays FFXI, AoE3, Civ 4, Sims 2 kinda stuff. Along with movies and so.

So someone tell me.. did I make a mistake in ordering her the X1300 vs the X1400? Was saving some money for obvious reasons.

However while this is still in production stage where I can change order.. rather hear from others here soon so I know if X1300 should be fine or if its gonna be a mistake for her needs. Thanks. =)

Well I would have ordered the x1400 just incase. The card is a low-end card at best. With new games coming out it will struggle if she wants to play the new ones.

I would go for the X1400. But then again, that is just my thinking.

If you spend $1000 on a laptop that will game for a year, why not spend $1200 on one that will game for 2 years instead of buying a new notebook?

Then again, depends on situation. :p

I have to agree, would have gone with x1400, if it was me I'd make the change.

I thought you buy computer for using it now not for using it in future. In future u might get an X1400 card for less than $200! All gamers will be throwing away their X1400 (some experts said it will not run 64 bit games? I might be wrong!) cards next year when VISTA (not compatible?) is out!

Yea.. wish someone had a solid benchmark of this.. =/

Im starting to worry now cause I dont know if its needed or not really.. she doesnt do too much of new stuff.. I mean FFXI is the major one, that and PSX emulators.. which worked fine on lower end anyways..

But still looking for comments, cause if it gets more serious, Ill have to change the order. Which I dont wanna set it back again. >.<

For Sims 2 the X1300 card will work fine. Really the Intel Intergrated would have worked for the Sims 2. I have Sims 2 on my desktop, which has Intel Extreme(the nastiest card)

I still would have gone with the X1400. That's what I have on my E1505, and I definitly would not want to downgrade. If it were me and I knew that Vista was coming out, then I would get the X1400, or I would wait till I could at least afford it. Sometimes saving money is not saving money - in the long run.

Ok thanks guys/gals I made the order change.. although I know she isnt like me.. its just a smart move for 50$.. 50$ vs 1000$ for a new laptop or whatever.. you do the math.. .its just like if you skip the Ultrasharp upgrade so you can get a better HDD.. not worth it since HDD can always be changed out, LCD cannot.

And since I learned its NOT 128MB onboard ram.. that kinda blew the fuse for me.. so yea. Seeing its been CONFIRMED by users that the X1400 performs better then people expected.

Man.. at the rate I am studying.. maybe I should make a FAQ for the E1505 lol.. Think I will start that... that is if people thing thats a good idea? Or do you think its not needed?

Just seems alot of 1705 and 1505 things going on here.. and I know I am not helping in that matter much.

We were thinking about the FAQ...but it is better to answer on a thread by thread basis, only because options etc change and we don't want a million stickies on the forums. :p

I love when people ask questions, get answers and then help others when I am not on. :)

Well thats easy enough to do to help others, but common questions would be good.. like right now about the omega drivers etc. If its worth it or not for these models.. Not hearing too much in support of changing to them, aside from lack of support then.

    Hey check this article out.
    http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=647

From the looks of it.. if the same ATI card in the review is standard.. that would mean the X1300 only would have 32 MB onboard vs the X1400s 128 MB on board, making it even worse then thought before about dividing the memory in half for on board.

Would make it seem that any 128mb hypermemory isnt worth buying unless you just want a better option then "Intel"

Anyone else get that feeling too? I mean I already switched to x1400, however for future referance.. would seem 128mb models of hypermemory isnt worth it, even tho they can clock at the same speed. Just seems if your a more serious gfx demander.. would seem that getting the higher models are more ideal. Just a mention.

    DELLs X1300 has 64MB onboard and 64MB shared = 128MB "Hypermemory".

Yea.. ATIs website sucks for trying to find out real info on things.. doesnt really show a difference in x1300 or x1400
