I searched on the site for an answer but did not find anything so
I am creating this thread.
I know there is a lot out there about XP on the 1737 and driver
issues and such..most of which seems not insurmountable.
I am concerned about this ATA/AHCI thing...in the bios for the
SATA hard drives.
I am not sure if I can do this slipstream thing with the drivers...
Here is my question...
Is there a big deal about leaving the BIOS in ATA mode?
Also..I have a USB floppy drive..does anyone know if the SATA
drivers can be put onto a floppy and then just press F6 and
load them for the AHCI directly from
the floppy? And would anyone know where I would download the
drivers?
Anyone that has XP running..any other pointers for me?
Lastly..does the AHCI or ATA have anything to do with being
able to use the Blueray?
Thanx!

Okay. I found the files I needed on Itel's website and
instructions on creating the floppy.
If anyone has anything that could help out...plz let me know.

Yes you can load SATA drivers from USB floopy by F6 if booting from an XP CD. You just move the boot from USB or floopy option up in boot sequence in your BIOS. I don't know if MS has any XP 64bit CD w/ SP3 included. SATA drivers are included in SP2 and SP3. You can change your drive into ATA mode in BIOS first then install SP3 inside Windows, then switch back to SATA when reboot. Or you can bundle SATA drivers into your XP CD using nLite. You need to find out what chipset your laptop's motherboard use to download correct drivers from Intel site.

set the bios to sata slipstream the intel pm45 chipset driver using nlite works in textmode using the inf file driver in intel boot floppy drivers, this worked for me in xp32bit now looking for all the drivers for 64 bit
