    So I installed XP Pro and under Device Manager > Monitors I get two default monitors and one plug and play monitor. I tried to uninstall the default monitors but when I restart the system, they re-appear again.

    Anyone know why there are two default monitors listed there?! I thought there should only be one plug and play monitor.

    I've seen this before, and I couldn't get my head around it then either. But then I figured, 'Hey, the systems working as it should... and I'm not actually experiencing any problems with my setup, so I'll just shrug it off and leave it alone.'

    Worked for me. :)

    Same for me. I guess it is the OS because Vista users have only one PnP monitor.

    I did a bit of reading on Dell forums and I learned it is actually normal. The reason there are two default monitors is because it denotes (2 outputs) i.e. one for VGA out and the other I think HDMI. The plug and play monitor denotes the internal LCD screen.

    Total = 3

    Hi,

    My name is Rick and I am a part of Dells Online Community outreach team. Normally there will be multiple devices showing under monitor if your system has multiple outputs, or a notebook with an LCD and a monitor output.

    This is completely normal and does not impede the function of the system.

    If you have any other questions please let me know.

    Rick

    The Dell Community Forums are a good place to get information, I will have to get on them for getting the answer out before I could.
