I just ordered an E1705 with 2GB ram, nVidia 7600 GO GS, 17" XtraBrite monitor, etc... I plan to wipe the machine of Vista when I get it and install XP Pro. Before I do this however, I want to make sure all XP drivers will be compatible and exist.. I tried this same process on a Gateway laptop and due to it being so configged for Vista, I couldn't find audio or network drivers.

Has anyone tried this? If so, any tricks/tips?

Unless the BIOs is solely configured for Vista I see no problem with doing that. But I may be forgeting something, I'm not sure.

Visit the Dell support site and you'll find all of the necessary XP drivers. Follow SouthernGirl's install guide and you should be fine.

There is no BIOS configuration that limits this machine solely to one operating system.
