Got this ridiculous sudden screen-death 'feature' on Precision 5540, if touching anything in the flashy Intel command center. 1st time a pain, wtf happened, surely my tweaks, how to get the laptop back in useable condition, reload some reflect image, test with another win version etc etc. Can't be Intel \ Dell, can it? But yo, on some top of the pricerange models one ends up with a unuseable pc if even thinking about nudging any Intel graphics adjustment slider 1\100th of a millimeter or clicking on options![]()
Not critical in my case, screen is near perfect as-is, but how come Intel \ Dell manages to deliver such a major defect built-in without realizing the situation, or worse, knowing about it and still going ahead. From the dell forum, been going on a long time, with incapability of solving it >

Question, anyone succeeded in replacing the new (always better lol) Command Center with the old, sturdy Intel Graphics Control Panel ?

I tested it on my XPS 17 and just creating a new display profile caused the screen to completely black out. I had to connect the laptop to my external monitor and DDU my way back to safety. This is a catastrophic bug.

Thanks for confirmation, and hoping for some remedy driver soon.
Like MS, quality control mia, letting customers do the job. Many 1000's $ top of the line pro machines, with some malfunction not even to be found on a 30$ bottom of the bin android tablet. Seemingly reports started 6 months ago or so, still no fix. A disgrace.
Maybe Dell \ Intel hired some of the fired software people who worked on 737 max > push this button and every screen\dial dies. Reboot? does nothing. Call boeing on a cell phone and ask them to come reinstall drivers\software (...at the crash site).
These laptops should never have been released on the market with such a built-in defect.
Edit: warning for the affected products: forced reboot does not fix anything, thanks a lot dell\intel. Possibilities afaik: restore a disk image, usb stick boot \\\ boot to safe mode, uninstall intel graphics driver \\\ use a restore point.Last edited: Apr 11, 2021 -
6+ months since reported, still nothing. Terrible behaviour from Dell \ Intel.

Just when writing this, found several very recently released updates, ... will report back.
Edit:
Lots of updates, incl. a very extensive & nervewracking :O) bios flash, all well, but no new Intel graphics ...
After preparing (external monitor + fresh Reflect image) had a go, a very faint hope any of the other updates had some impact, but nope, The Perfect Black Awaited.

Latest Intel Graphics 17 sep 2021 Dell download, installed but never tested the POS Command Center. It may? (should!) fix the black screen.
Anyway, using Dell PremierColor, works fine the very few instances I may need to adjust anything.RickAgresta likes this.
XPS \ Precision, Intel Graphics Command, black screen
