I'm thinking about buying an XPS 1210. For desktop use I'd like to use my Sony HD 23" LCD TV as the monitor, and use a full size bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Then on the go- I unplug a few wires and I'm off.

How will the screen look on an HD TV?

Can I turn the computer on and off without opening the cover each time? I'd like to keep it sort of like a desktop where I don't have to mess with it for normal use.

itll look find on a monitor with a good resolution, the nvidia card will auto detect and set it at the native resolution.
I used dual 20" samsung wides and it works just fine. I only have to plug in one vga plug and a use receiver for my wireless mouse/keyboard/remote.

You do have to open the lid to turn it on...its not a big deal.

On a HDTV, they dont look that great, and if you have a plasma like me, you wouldnt want a static image on there too long anyways (ie toolbar)

It all depends on what the resolution of the Sony monitor is. But you should be fine. According to nVidia's website the 7400 supports resolutions up to 2048x1536. But it looks like you'll have to hook it up via VGA connector as it doesn't appear that the M1210 has a DVI port.

Use a VGA to DVI converter to hook to 23" sony. you can use the display settings to set dual screen function for sony.
