I have a used skylake on offer for about 60% of its new price, the gold one QHD. Its only 3 months old.

But I see the Kaby Lake is out, and dell are having a 15% sale, I can get an FHD version with the new i7 for $300 more than the used one above. Thats in AU dollars.

    Which is the better machine?

The QHD version has I suppose 512GB hard drive and 16GB Ram? Wouldn't be worth paying extra $300 to go down to 8GB Ram and 128/256GB hard drive?

Main advantage of KL is the better integrated GPU, so if you're not playing any games that probably won't make a difference for you.
