Standard display vs. Slim and Light LED Display with VGA Webcam

Which one is better? What is the difference in quality? According to the Dell site the resolution is the same, only the thickness is different. Is one better than the other in any way? Clarity, Color, brightness, contrast etc?

The LED backlit display is thinner, brighter, often boasts richer colors, has whiter whites, blacker blacks, and costs considerably more. I would make the investment for the upgrade because it really adds a lot to the 1330.

Of course that depends on which manufacturer makes the LCD panel you receive. I just sent my m1330 back, the LED screen was horrible, grains and dark areas.

BTW, I have Toshiba and it's nice and liveable, would love to see what a Sammy can do for me.

I also have an Outlet Refurb M1330 w/ the CMO and it's the biggest piece of turd ever. 99% made up my mind I'm going to just return the CMO instead of getting it 'fixed' w/ a who knows what kinda % chance of getting a 'better' screen.

Have you tried to modify the nVidia display settings such as contrast, brightness, and digital vibrance?

On the CMO version? Yes, doesn't help the horizontal lines issue at all.

I have an LG CCFL and I'm extremely happy with what I recieved. Not grainy at all...

I was looking at the LED option, but it finally came down to the fact that the LED option (at least, when I ordered) had a two week lead time on it. So I took the $150 that I would have spent for the LED and put it towards a better CPU.

I'm happy I did as the laptop is light enough anyway. :)

Hm Ok. I have been quite happy with my CMO screen. After awhile, I tweaked the digital vibrance and contrast settings and it made a HUGE improvement. I would not give up my CMO with these settings enabled. It looks very good. It is both bright and the colors are rich now. I have had this screen for 6 months now, and no horizontal lines or graininess at all.

Liveable...? As in, you think it could / should be better? I recently compared my TMD to my CRT monitor (yes, I still use one, but not for much longer...) and I'd say for LCD technology, I can't / don't expect it to be any better...

    (... i.e. it's more than liveable :D)

    :)

I'm a tweaker, and always want to know my options so I'm not "slighted" /missed-out.

I too have an old Viewsonic GS790 19 inch CRT (I use for my retro MS-DOS early 90's games :) ) and I hooked up my CMO M1330 up to it, amazing the visual difference :)

Yes, the Toshiba is nice, I wish it was a bit brighter, but I'll definately be able to keep it and love it :)
