I'm seriously considering ordering a 1330 (even with the delays). I've seen a lot of people recommending the LED screen option because it's lighter and more battery efficient.

The price difference here in europe is about 180 euros (230 US$)

My question is: how much lighter is the LED screen than the LCD screen?

The only thing I've found about weight sofar is that 1330 starts at 1,8 kilo ( i guess that's LED and 4 cells battery)

How much more battery efficient will the LED screen be?

I found some info in one of the other threads:

"All XPS M1330 LCD Hi-Definition panels are 13.3 inch WideSscreen (1280x800) Displays with TrueLife. The LED display starts at 3.97lbs and is 0.87 inches thick compared to the standard display which starts at 4.28lbs. and is 0.97 inches thick."

But that is really a moot point because who really needs that extra brightness?

    1330 vs 1520

    1330:
    Smaller and lighter
    Brighter LCD
    Fingerprint Reader
    HDMI video output available
3.0 MP camera instead of 2.0
    Integrated Slot-Load optical drives

    1520:
Couple hundred dollars cheaper when config with similar spec as 1330
    Better video card
    More color options (lol)

    I ordered my 1330 July 16th

actually, it's a .3 MP cam, which is vga resolution. yes, it's a lot smaller, but web conferencing is done in vga anyway, so there is no reason to have a cam any bigger unless you want to take pictures with your laptop :p

We have all been saying that but there was one article which suggested it might not be more energy efficient - I can't remember Dell telling us it was more energy efficient.

Probably not inside - then hopefully we can turn the brightness down and maybe will see a energy saving. But brighter is useful if you want to use it outside and in brightly lit offices the increased contrast may help reduce the significance of the reflections from the glossy screen.

Incidentally - on the Dell Driver site there was some mention of a driver which automatically changes brightness depending on the brightness of the environment. It wasn't clear to me if this feature would was for the M1330 or some other model. I haven't seen any mention of a light sensor on the M1330 but I suppose the camera could be used. It would be kind of neat.
