I just purchased a new XPS1330 with the 8-in-1 SD Card Reader. When I insert my 1GB SD Card and open a folder to view the contents the photo thumbnails appear blank. If I click on one to open it the computer hangs up and 30+ seconds later a box appears saying Windows has encountered a problem.

Seeing how this is a known issue, is their a fix available?

I have attempted to update the drivers but I am running the most current ones, and Dell Support took contol of the computer and was unable to correct the issue at this time.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks!

Mine works fine using the stock drivers that came with the system.

I read here that Norton Internet Security 2008 could be a culprit, but before I uninstall it and screw around with other possible solutions I would appreciate knowing a bit more in detail about this please.

    Cheers

Since System Works Professional 2003 I could not uninstall all, I no longer trust Norton. I never use symantec products any more, even for free! Thats why I have no problem with inserting a 8GB SDHC in and works fine.

Not meaning to threadjack but is there any way to read the memory stick pro duo in there? It seems to be too small. Thanks.

Uninstalling NIS2008 WORKED! But now I have no security software running. Does Vista have one built in?

Try AVG8, it might work for you.

    I found a workaround:

Disabling the NIS2008 firewall and turning on the Vista Firewall allows the SD Card Reader to work.

    Well, that didnt last!

The card reader still does not work. It recognizes the card but locks up when trying to view the filies.

    Any ideas?
