Dell took out the LED option from their Canadian site about a month ago. Those who wanted one like myself were out of luck. But there's a workaround that you can try.

I went to a Dell kiosk and asked a salesperson to help me configure a laptop. Instead of using the website, he used Dell's own ordering system software (wish I could remember the name, started with a Do-). To our surprise, we found both LCD type screens available, with the LED screen labeled as "Slim". It was a 150$ upgrade. He even managed to add a travel remote which isn't listed on the Canadian site.

I placed an order on the 11th and just got my LED screen equipped 1330 today :)

So if you had your heart set on that screen and don't want to wait for Dell to put up the option back up again on their site, try the kiosks!

Alternately, you could probably order by phone.

I did, but was told that the reason it wasn't available in Canada is due to some technical issues they need to figure out first. Which doesn't make sense, since they're happily building these systems for US customers. Basically, he just didn't want to tell me the real reason why, or he just didn't know.

I ran into the same situation. I tried and tried to get the led screen through a csr (several of them actually) but no luck; they were firm, no led. Then I tried my local kiosk and they were most accomadating and had no problem giving me the led, I did not even have to beg. Obviously the csrs can put the order through on their backsystem just as the kiosk did; they just can't be bothered to go against orders whereas for some reason the kiosks don't mind (shrug). At any rate, in Canada if you want the led, go to your local kiosk or go to the nearest town with one (if you can) (the kiosk locations are on the dell website, just not sure where exactly right now). This brings up the whole question of why Dell pulled the screen as we know it is still available. If it had been enviornmental regulations it would not have been available period. Obviously it is some economic thing where there is a shortage so they are reserving all the leds for the US (at least that is a plausible theory that I think has some merit). Congrats, Wumzi!
