XPS 14 l421x will a 256GB SSD work in it?

So I picked up a bargain on an XPS14. Never thought much of XPS but this machine has keys nearly as nice as Thhinkpads, nice backlit keys, a really smooth MS trackpad, nice softrubber top but metal all round.

They come with a 32GB mini Sata drive which uses intel rapid technology to improve boot speeds etc.

But its still slow.

I dont want to over spend as I only paid $150 for this as an between notebook, so $100 on a 256GB SSD. Im just not sure if the Bios would limit me etc.

I love its screen, whilst not 1080p at 14" its not in need of scaling, and its 400 nits, so its at 50% most of the time and gets about 6 hours web surfing at 50%, could prob eeeeek out another our by dropping power settings and 25% screen but never off leash long enough to miss it.Now if you would only out an mx150 in your XPS13 and comply with HDR10 given how bright the screen is, Im in.

But like Sam Tab S4 when it releases. I nearly nab an AW 13, now it has HDR, that thing is hot. But I dont PC game much, more watch media.

Will keep this notebook which is near fresh as day it was made, one day teh CPIs wont cut it nrght now it should last 2 years which gives me spending for OLED HDR devices.

 

Are you planning to replace the 32GB mSATA SSD or the main storage drive? The version reviewed here has a 512GB 2.5" SSD but no mention of the 32GB mSATA SSD. Unless there's a need to maximise storage capacity I would be inclined to replace the existing 2.5" drive and remove the 32GB mSATA SSD as it's performance is likely to be poor by current standards.

nice score NYCtech. I think you can change out the Hard drive for sure. As John mentioned too, pop out the 32gb and just run everything off the main hard drive.
