Guys:
Just rec'd my XPS 1530, black. Amazing in all respects, even with the basic graphics card and 7250 processor...solid. The only thing thats just a bit annoying is the black paint on the cover...fingerprints that you really can't remove without a good scrub with windex...so I'm wondering if there is a solution with some sort of car wax? or other idea? The paint is a flat, matte finish, if it had been glossy it would have been much easier to clean...the matte just soaks up the oils in your fingers. Any ideas? Was this an issue with the 1330?

Funny I'm to undergo the same thing this week to spray my M1330 Lid all well and good!!!.
You need a clear glossy spray something like car paint but paint suited for plastics or fibergglass.
Mind you I may go and spray mine White (gloss) just for the hell of it, at the moment I have standard Black .. -
Let us know how it goes...and importantly if you go ahead with a new paint job, how about a step by step type write up, type of paint used, etc? I'm sure we are not the only ones looking into this. I will do some research and see what I find. Also, be aware that if you do go white, from black, one, you will need a few good coats, and two, any scratches down the road will show as black if deep. You may want to stay with black gloss...just some food for thought...
I thought about spraying it with some canned paint but could not figure out how to tape around the Dell logo and ring that are silver...very time consuming I imagine but ultimately it would be well worth it. -
I have the same issue with my 1420... the jet black cover gets full of fingerprints ;(
Any ideas? -

Have you looked into Krylon fusion spray paints? I want to say that I read about someone using that on their laptop casing before. I just can't seem to figure out where it was. Although I don't have experience spraying the fusion on a laptop, I have used it on other plastic pieces and the bonding good. Most have been outdoor applications so it holds up pretty good under tough conditions.

Are you crazy
As the notebook gets older and you have your fingerprints all over, it gradually becomes more resistant to any further fingerprints. The solution isn't any solution but natural passage of time!
