    Hello all,

Can those of you who own an XPS 1530 and monitor the idle temps of the GPU and CPU please post them?

    Thank you!

Yes, that seems really high. I had idle temps that high on the Go 7900GS, cleaned out the fans and now I idle around 50-55 deg C. During games, my GPU would approach as high as 88 before i cleaned the dust out. Typically, this would cause my laptop to overheat and shut itself down. Can anyone else comment on their 1530 idle temps?

While it was running, my CPU idled at about 38-40C, GPU was around 55-58C

Load was a different story that saw the CPU at around 65-70C with the GPU around 85C

thanks for the reply zipx2k5. What were you doing while you had "load?"

I had the same temp ranges as you on my e1705, and before cleaning my fans, the laptop would occasionally shut down, as I said before, from overheating or sometimes I would get artifacts while playing games. Now the temperatures seem much more manageable. I was hoping Dell had rectified this issue, but apparently it has not.

    Crysis ;)

I was able to undervolt the CPU down to about 1.00v at the max multiplier, which brought the max temp under load to about 60C. As far as the GPU goes, the temps I was getting were manageable for the card. I didn't notice any artifacts or problems. I may try applying some Arctic Silver 5 to see if I can overclock the GPU when my motherboard is replaced.

My idle temp of the GPU varies from 55-67 C (67 is when the fan starts and pushes it back down to 55 again) and it goes like a clockwork roller coaster. Is it suppose to be like this? It would be nice to be able to configure the fanspeed to get the temp in a smaller intervall, say 58-60 C.

While doing multi-window web surfing, mine likes to hang between 67-68 C. Someone gave me one of those chill mats(which I've never used before) and I really didn't notice that huge of a difference. Well silly me, come to find out placement of your laptop on those things is big. I slid my laptop down a bit where the intake was directly above one of those little fans and voila, my GPU temp dropped from 68 to to 56 within about 2-3 mins.

My GPU temp idles at around 50-55 and cpu 50-63 (high performance) or 43- 54 (battery optimized). I cant really speak for your gpu bc mine hasnt gone over 68 under load but cpu temps up to 80 degrees for this laptop are not uncommon.

I dont really like those chill mats, prefer to have mine directly on the table. I have however lifted the back on the computer approx 1cm above the table to allow for better air flow.

AdrianX, Yeah thats sounds about right. I always run high performance when plugged in
and my max temp when overclocked 582/880 is around 78 C.
